The total number of people who may have been scammed by a woman who scammed people with a supposed room for rent in a residential property located between Sant Jordi and Platja d'en Bossa is unknown. She used this to generate profit by taking deposits.

This woman's modus operandi, as this outlet has already reported, was always the same. First, she contacted people via Telegram to offer them the room. Then, she proceeded to visit the property, claiming to own it (she was actually a tenant) and asking for a deposit of between €700 and €900 in exchange for the keys.

As the move-in date approached, often May 1st, the owner began to make excuses. Everything came to light when one of the victims, Jessica, reported the situation in the Telegram group through which she contacted people.

As a result, they began communicating with each other until they showed up at the home on April 29th to demand answers. It was then that they notified the Civil Guard to arrive. As the Guardia Civil explained in a statement, «A 54-year-old woman has been arrested for fraud in Ibiza. According to the armed forces this Sunday, following several reports of fraud received at the Sant Josep de Sa Talaia Civil Guard Main Post in Ibiza, an investigation was initiated. Based on the above, the woman was arrested and brought before the competent judicial authority.»

The Civil Guard has finally issued an appeal to anyone who might have been harmed by these events to come to the Sant Josep barracks, inviting them to file a complaint. According to those affected, there could be many more who are still unaware of the situation «since their entry date is later, between May 15th and June 1st.»

According to estimates, more than a hundred people could have been affected by this scam, with amounts approaching €900 in most cases. «I could have defrauded more than €50,000», one of them asserts.

Regarding these allegations, they were summoned to testify last Thursday. However, the judge did not finally take their statements, so they are still waiting.
