The young Briton who crashed in Ibiza was a star ice hockey player

Gary Kelly was a 19-year-old boy who came to Ibiza for a holiday, as many young people do in the summer. Kelly was an ice hockey star, and nobody could have predicted that this trip would end in his tragic death.

On Sunday, after midnight, the player fell from the third floor of the hotel where he was staying in Sant Antoni. Suffering from multiple trauma, in critical condition and in need of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the young man died at the scene. The medical services were unable to save him when they arrived, as SAMU 061 told Europa Press.

The news has caused a stir in the English-speaking world, with several English media outlets and ice hockey teams reporting on it.

«The Dundee Stars are truly devastated to learn that Gary Kelly has tragically passed

away. We send our thoughts and condolences to Gary’s family, partner, and all his friends at this extremely difficult time», his team posted on ‘X’.

«We are devastated beyond words. Our beautiful son has passed away. I am at a loss for words. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as a family as we try to cope with this tragic news. You will always be our son, Gary. May you rest», his family wrote, according to Marca.

As The Mirror reports, his girlfriend has also written a few words following the devastating event. «I never thought I would be sitting here writing a farewell message. Those of you who knew Gary were very lucky. His passion and dedication were inspiring, whether it was hockey, work or his loved ones. I find it hard to accept that you are no longer with me» she recounted.

«I haven't realised it yet. Gary taught me and showed me valuable lessons that I will carry with me forever. I think it's important to remember the good times and celebrate the love he brought into our lives» continued the young woman, who said that «everything weighs on me and words can't express the love I feel for Gary». «I wish he could see how much he is loved. Even though our experiences together have paused, the memories we made will stay with me forever. I miss you so much already», he concluded.
