The luxury lifestyle in Ibiza continues to strike many as surprising, particularly those who can afford it. José Elías, who is known for his investment and business analysis videos on YouTube, went on holiday to Ibiza this summer. The trip cost him a total of €35,000.

In the podcast Búscate la Vida, which he hosts with his partner Eric Ponce, he discussed his recent trips to Kenya and the Seychelles, as well as the cruise he took in the Pitiusas.

‘The boat alone is worth €28,000,’ says José Elías, who adds that meals and other expenses incurred during the trip, as well as the rental of a villa, must be added to this amount. All together, this comes to €35,000. He emphasises that this was the budget for the whole family and that they were travelling for 15 days.

Although the figure is surprising, the analyst argues that the house costs €8,000 per week for eight people. It should be noted that of the 15 days, he spent one in the house. ‘Very normal for Ibiza,’ he agrees. Even so, José Elías also makes it clear that ‘the islands are getting a bit out of hand with prices.’

‘We couldn't get away for less than £130 per person... and of course, with children, £130 for a 9-year-old's meal seems crazy to me,’ criticises the analyst, who adds that Spanish residents won't be able to go ‘because it's not viable’. He also says that the number of tourists has fallen, but ‘those who do go spend money’, while those who go by boat ‘couldn't care less’.

Other destinations

Ibiza and Formentera are not the only destinations José Elías has visited. Kenya and the Seychelles were the destinations he chose, although he did not go into much detail. However, he did say that he spent 15,000 euros on them.
