The history of music in Spain would not be the same without Pino Sagliocco. The promoter and national president of Live Nation took part yesterday in 'Unas hierbas con...', chatting with journalist Montse Monsalve and revealing aspects and details of his life, such as how good his parents felt when they arrived on the island and discovered the rural Ibiza where their son lived.
According to Sagliocco, he feels at home in Ibiza, a «chosen» home where he was happy from the very first moment.
«I couldn't conceive of my life without Ibiza», he told this newspaper minutes before the interview began.
Sagliocco acknowledged that everyone would like to enjoy more tranquillity on the island, more quality and friendliness and less overcrowding, «but the world has changed everywhere» and Ibiza continues to offer him magical moments that he continues to enjoy to the full. «We still have our corners, places that are waiting for us, and although with time things are deteriorating, Ibiza still has magic for me,» he said.
Asked about his long career, logically 'Barcelona 92' - the project that he himself devised - marked a before and after in his life, and also in the musical panorama of the time, since until then it was difficult to imagine the fusion of two artists with such different styles as rock and lyric. «It was emblematic and revolutionary that in 1987 two such different worlds merged. Afterwards, everyone began to collaborate and there was a great transgression», he recalled.
According to the promoter, the show in which Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury performed - Ibiza 92 - was broadcast to 31 countries and the song became a «flagship». Together with George Michael, it served to spread the name of Ibiza everywhere, said Sagliocco.
