The world of electronic music is mourning the death of Jack Revill aka DJ Jackmaster this Saturday in Ibiza at the age of 38. It has been the family itself who communicated this Saturday on the DJ's profile on social networks. "It is with deep sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack tragically passed away in Ibiza on the morning of October 12 following complications from an accidental head injury."
His family (Kate, Sean and Johnny) are completely heartbroken. "While we are deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss," the family expresses on social media.
The family goes on to note Jack's "passion for music and his relentless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at Numbers and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, including the discovery of countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community, both in front of and behind the scenes".
Jackmaster's sessions were a regular fixture in Ibiza clubs, either individually or with other big names in electronic music. In fact, at the Amnesia closing this Saturday night he was honored with a large screen displaying his photo, date of birth and date of death.
"His legacy will continue to inspire and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible," concludes his family in the statement. May he rest in peace.
