The snake invasion continues to be a problem in Ibiza. This time, María, a Cala de Bou resident, contacted Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera to report finding a snake over a metre long in her neighbour's bathroom.
As there is no furniture in the house while it is being renovated, they were able to see the snake quickly.
«We are sure that the snakes are reaching inhabited areas. The neighbourhood is located near a hotel in Cala de Bou, and we are worried that they could enter our houses," explains María, who explains that the house is around a plot of land and is next to several detached houses. María tells this newspaper that they did not manage to catch her because they were overcome with fear.
She adds that the Consell de Ibiza should provide more snake traps in neighbourhoods where snakes are appearing «and suggests introducing a predatory bird of prey to the island to eliminate them».
If you find a snake in your house, on the street or in the sea, the best thing to do is catch and kill it. However, if you are unable to do so, call 112. If you have found a snake and would like to share your experience, please email redaccion@periodicodeibiza.es.
