The law forces the Sa Trinxa beach bar to dispense with its sessions with DJs

The Balearic Government recalls that, according to the 2005 PRUG, recreational activities such as parties or concerts are forbidden in the Natural Park

Established in the 1970s, Sa Trinxa is one of Ibiza's most famous beach bars and restaurants. However, from now on, the popular beach bar, located in Ses Salines, will no longer be able to host DJ sessions.

«Due to force majeure, Sa Trinxa is suspending its DJ sessions in accordance with the Natural Park's regulations. However, we will continue to have music», they announced yesterday on their social media accounts.

Immediately, a campaign on the Change.org platform managed to collect more than 2,000 signatures calling for the ban to be overturned. In one message, signatures were encouraged, stating that this «battle» not only seeks to preserve the chiringuito's musical tradition, but also a place «for our right to cultural diversity and authentic expresión» as everyone in Ibiza should have the opportunity to experience the unique feeling of relaxing at Sa Trinxa, the only authentic beach club on the island, according to the initiative's promoters.

The beach bar was also said to «hold a special place in the hearts of residents and visitors».

On Wednesday, the Government of the Balearic Islands reminded the public that tourist or recreational activities that are incompatible with the Ses Salines Natural Park include the holding of parties, concerts and all kinds of events, whether or not they are of a large-scale nature and are held both on beaches and in the natural environment, as well as in establishments located in rural areas or in the public domain.
