Sant Joan de Labritja Town Hall has initiated a sanctioning procedure for serious infringements relating to activities after detecting that yoga classes were being held without a licence at a house located at Diseminado de Benirràs 51. This organised and permanent activity on protected rural land lacks the necessary authorisations.
The inspection was carried out on 11 July by Municipal Technical Services, Local Police officers, and Ibiza Island Council staff. During the inspection, it was found that yoga classes were being held in a marquee on the property, in accordance with the timetable publicly advertised on a website.
The file identifies the property owners and Ibiza Yoga Limited as those allegedly responsible for organising and promoting the activity. The inspection also revealed unauthorised constructions, occupied caravans and auxiliary structures, which are allegedly linked to tourist stays.
According to the municipal technical report, conducting yoga activities at this location constitutes a very serious infringement, as it involves a major permanent activity on protected rural land that is incompatible with the current urban planning regulations. Furthermore, access to the interior of the property was prevented during the inspection, which has been considered an aggravating circumstance as it obstructed the inspection authority.
The proposed sanction is 165,000 euros, accompanied by a precautionary total prohibition of the activity. If the activity is not stopped voluntarily, the area will be sealed off and repeated non-compliance will be reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Sant Joan de Labritja Town Council reaffirms its commitment to defending the natural environment, complying with urban planning legislation, and respecting the regulations governing the development of economic activities in the municipality.
