A video posted on social media by a user has reignited the debate about prices in Ibiza. Recorded during a meal at the renowned restaurant El Carnicero, the video shows a bill totalling €417. The dishes consumed included a €10 bottle of water, €34 anchovies from Santoña, €42 tartare, two €48 sirloin steaks, €46 Argentine chorizo steak, a €44 octopus leg, and €14 side dishes such as roast potatoes and sweet potato with pumpkin.
The reaction on social media was immediate. Some users criticised the high cost, pointing out that the tip seemed 'almost mandatory', while others argued that, as it is a high-end restaurant in Ibiza, the prices should come as no surprise. ‘If you choose certain places, you know what you're getting into,’ commented one internet user, while others played down the controversy, considering a bill of just over £100 per person for premium meat to be expected.
