This Friday was marked by reunions, traditions and gastronomy for the elderly residents of the parish of Sant Agustí. They enjoyed their most important date of the year, their traditional lunch, which is part of their festival programme, but whose activities went even further.

Around two hundred senior citizens enjoyed a series of activities organised for them on Friday morning. It all began with the traditional mass at the church of Sant Agustí, adding a touch of tradition.

After the religious event had finished, the activities moved to the Can Curt cultural centre. First, there was a screening of the documentary Relats de sal, which showcases the island's and the municipality of Sant Josep's rich salt-making heritage. Then, there was a visit to the Mar y Terra exhibition of traditional tools and utensils, which was also held at the cultural centre. The exhibition was organised jointly by the senior citizens' associations of Sant Josep and Sant Agustí.

After a small snack, the senior citizens travelled by two buses provided for the occasion to the El Cruce restaurant in Sant Rafel. As usual, they enjoyed their traditional meal there: a huge paella that delighted everyone present.

One of the most touching moments was the presentation of gifts to couples celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary this year. These were Bartomeu and Cari, Pep and María, María and Juan, Miquel and María, and Antonia and José, as well as Dolores and José, who celebrated their anniversary last year.
