On Sunday morning, a young woman was killed and two others were injured after being hit by a vehicle while walking along the street on the border between the municipalities of Sant Antoni and Sant Josep.
The accident occurred when a Jeep Wrangler SUV veered off the road and onto the pavement, hitting the pedestrians and knocking down a lamppost.
Beach lifeguards administered first aid. Local police patrols and two 061 ambulances later arrived at the scene.
One of the women, aged 23 and of British nationality, was admitted to the emergency department at Can Misses Hospital at 12:45. According to the Ibiza and Formentera Health Department, she was discharged at 16:10.
The other two young women, who were admitted in critical and serious condition, have been transferred to the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Polyclinic in Ibiza. One of them has died.
At this time, the causes of the vehicle's manoeuvre and the condition of the driver are unknown.
According to Vicent Roig, mayor of Sant Josep, the accident began in the municipality of Sant Josep and ended on Molí Street, which is already in Sant Antoni. The police report is being prepared by the Sant Josep Local Police.
The events are being reconstructed. The results of alcohol and drug tests carried out on the driver of the vehicle that hit the three young women as they were walking on the pavement are also awaited.
