Death knell in Ibiza. The environment of the pedestrian crossing located between es Gorg and ses Feixes de Vila was the scene early on Sunday of an accident that ended up being deadly. It happened shortly after midnight on the first round belt. The car that ran over the young woman continued its march and left the place without helping the woman who was badly injured on the asphalt.
Several units of the Ibiza Local Police and two ambulances from 061 were mobilized to the scene. In the first aid also collaborated a sanitary who was in the area and warned the event.
The victim, a 35-year-old woman of Argentine nationality, suffered serious injuries and was evacuated to the Policlinica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, a centre where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), around 01.00. The woman died on Sunday just before noon.
As detailed on Monday from the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the young woman had severe head trauma with skull fracture, cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral edema, abdominal trauma with liver laceration and bladder injury, and trauma with vertebral fractures, sacral fracture and pelvic fracture.
The Ibiza Local Police and the National Police carried out several checks and investigations aimed at identifying the car that had hit the woman. Police sources indicated that the driver, 24 years old, showed up hours later at the National Police Station.
The Ibiza Local Police investigates the case to see the circumstances in which the attack occurred and to corroborate the colour of the traffic light. The accident occurred in a pedestrian crossing duly marked with horizontal and vertical light signs, municipal sources said.
The driver was arrested and reported as the alleged perpetrator of a felony of manslaughter and a felony of abandonment of the scene of the accident. He tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
