The Teatro Pereyra will reopen its doors on May 18th, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of this emblematic space, which took place on 6 April 1899.

This Friday, the official presentation took place in the presence of Pedro Matutes, owner of the theatre, and Nacho Cano, artistic director. «We have tried to take a theatre from the 19th century and bring it into the 21st century without losing its essence,» said Matutes, who confirmed that the aim for the theatre is «not to be stillborn» but to be part of the island's cultural development.

In this sense, Matutes confirmed that this space will remain open all year round so that «the Ibizan people can feel it as their own» and thus also contribute to the development of the La Marina neighbourhood.

To this end, Cano will be in charge of bringing a different show to the island, called «Ibiza Hippie Heaven», in a format that is «unprecedented» on the island. The artistic director's proposal is to put on a long show, about six hours, where each day of the week is «totally different» and has «a style referring to the different cosmopolitan groups that make up the island».
