Ibiza and Formentera's most typical fashion paraded on the beachfront this Thursday. It did so in a special setting, the Beso Beach Ibiza, in ses Salines, marked by its charitable nature. The funds raised at this event, which combined music, gastronomy and fashion, went entirely to the AEMIF association, which fights against Multiple Sclerosis on our islands, more specifically in this case, for its work with those affected by ALS -Amitrophic Lateral Sclerosis-.
The fashion show took place along the restaurant's catwalk. There she combined the proposals of different artists, mixing the most extravagant dresses with more discreet options. Colour and style were more than present at Beso Beach during the more than 45 minutes that the show lasted.
The event brought together friends of the house, loyal customers and business people from the island to exclusively discover the new Mediterranean Summer collection by Beso Beach Collection, presented by its creative director Angie López, who also unveiled some of the new product proposals for this season.
The fashion show also featured the participation of two guest brands that represent the free and elegant spirit of the islands: Vintage Ibiza, a benchmark of Adlib fashion, and Equilibi Formentera, a firm committed to sustainability and local craftsmanship.
This is the first edition of this event, although Beso Beach has already organised other events to raise funds for the fight against ALS, such as Malú's performance last summer.
These funds have been raised through the sale of ballots which, for a price of 10 euros, gave access to a wide range of prizes in a raffle offered by the restaurant. The raffle included products from the participating brands and a white gold jewel with diamonds, courtesy of Joyería Alemana de Mallorca.
On behalf of AEMIF, both family members of users and members of the board of directors attended the raffle. As Neus Marí and Michelle, daughter of a user and director of management respectively, explained to Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera, the association deals with ‘physical disability of neurological origin; it attends to the group of acquired brain damage, neurodegenerative lesions except Alzheimer's and spinal cord injuries’.
Although they receive funds from different institutions on the island, they assure that charity events like this one help them greatly to finance rehabilitation treatments that are ‘very costly and essential for the users’.
Also present was the project coordinator of the association, Nuria Nogueras, who pointed out that this association currently has a waiting list of more than fifty people in our islands, as a good example of the need to continue raising these funds.
This parade is part of Beso Beach's social project called «Two kisses for two causes». As its name suggests, there are two areas, the first, the environmental, through which they have collaborated with platforms such as Plastic Free or Posidonia Project, for example. The second cause is focused on neurodegenerative diseases such as, in this case, multiple sclerosis.
