Second truck loaded with drugs in the last two weeks caught in the port of Ibiza. On Thursday morning, Guardia Civil officers caught a lorry in the port of Ibiza that was attempting to board a ferry bound for Valencia.
According to what the Guardia Civil confirmed to Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera on Thursday, the lorry was loaded with bales of hashish. The total quantity is not known at the moment.
This is the second lorry that tried to leave Ibiza for the port of Valencia loaded with drugs. The first was on July 9th and, in this case, it did manage to leave Ibiza for Valencia, but the driver, a 53-year-old Spaniard, was arrested as soon as he disembarked at the port of Valencia. This vehicle was carrying 675 kilos of cocaine. On Wednesday July 9th, as part of ‘Operación Verano’, which is being carried out jointly by the National Police, the Guardia Civil and the Agencia Tributaria, random checks were carried out in the port of Valencia. There, the agents, after an exhaustive prior risk analysis, selected a ferry on the route between to proceed with the inspection of all the lorries.
Thanks to the support of the canine guides, one of the dogs marked a lorry in which, after opening it, a stash of 675 kilograms of cocaine was found. In addition, the driver was carrying 30 grams in doses among his belongings.
