The Consell de Ibiza is celebrating the Vuit d’Agost once again with a day of cultural, institutional and festive events in honour of the island’s patron saint, Sant Ciríac, as part of the Festes de la Terra. This year, the activities will take place in the cloister of the Old Town Hall, a beloved and symbolic space which has regained prominence following its refurbishment.

The programme will begin at 10 am with a concert by the Ciutat d’Eivissa Music Band in the cathedral square, followed by a solemn mass at 10:30 am officiated by the Bishop of Ibiza. This will feature a performance by the Cor Amics de Sa Música, conducted by Nélida Bonet and with soloist Lucía Herranz.
This will be followed by the traditional civic-religious procession and prayer in the Chapel of Sant Ciríac, culminating with the act of homage to Guillem de Montgrí in the Plaça d’Espanya at 12.15 pm.

Starting at 12:30 pm, the cloister of the Town Hall will host the institutional ceremony, which will include a ball pagès by the Federació de Colles de Ball i Cultura Popular d’Eivissa, a speech by the president of the Consell de Ibiza (Ibiza Council), and a new performance of the piece «Roqueta, sa meua roca» by the Cor Amics de Sa Música (Friends of Sa Música choir). The event will end with a popular aperitif.

To round off the day, there will be a huge fireworks display at midnight from the old wall of Ibiza’s port, organised by the Department of the Presidency of the Consell de Ibiza. Awarded to Fuegos Artificiales del Mediterráneo, the display will consist of 400 kg of gunpowder and last for over 12 minutes, with a comprehensive security system in place around the port perimeter.

The Festes de la Terra, recognised as a Festival of Cultural Interest since 2007, continues to preserve and promote the most emblematic events in Ibiza’s cultural identity, providing spaces for community, historical remembrance, and shared celebration.
