Last Sunday activists from the environmental organization Futuro Vegetal sprayed paint on a megayacht moored in the port of Ibiza to protest against the climate crisis.
In a statement, Futuro Vegetal explained that the action has been developed this Sunday around 09.00 hours and with it puts the end of the campaign 'Jets and Yachts, the party is over', convened by Extinction Rebellion Ibiza.
The activists have shown a banner where they could read 'You consume other's suffer', assuring that «It is the people who are at the top of the social pyramid, who put the life of the planet at their service and force people to work to sustain their system, exploiting animals and destroying the territory no matter how much suffering and death it entails».
The victim is none other than the luxury mega yacht 'Kaos', owned by Walmart heiress Nancy Walton. The entrepreneur bought it from the Qatari royal family in 2019 for 280 million euros after the death of the emir in 2017, who could not enjoy it. Walton completely reformed it in the shipyards of Luerssen, according to El Español.
Currently, the boat has a heliport at the bow, swimming pool, gym, bathing area, spa, cinema and even a small hospital. Luxury Launches even claims to have a huge aquarium inside.
The 'Kaos' can accommodate up to 31 passengers distributed in 16 cabins in the 110 meters of length and a weight of 4,253 tons, which positions as the 39th largest motor yacht in the world.
This luxury yacht reaches a speed of 35km/h and consumes 391,000 litres of fuel to travel 9,000 km.
