The Ibiza Local Police has arrested on Thursday a tourist of French nationality reported for reckless driving after leading a dangerous flight more than 150 km/h, circulating under the effects of narcotics and without a driving licence.
According to municipal sources, the arrest took place around 0700 hours after a police chase along Pere Matutes Noguera Avenue.
The arrest was triggered after a patrol observed a vehicle driving at high speed and recklessly, endangering the safety and integrity of other drivers as it repeatedly invaded the opposite lane.
The police patrol activated the acoustic and luminous system to head towards the reckless driver, who ignored the indications and began a flight more than 150 km/h despite being aware that the police had stopped him.
The same sources indicated that the police chase started on Pere Matutes Noguera Avenue ended when the agents managed to arrest the reckless driver on Avenida de la Paz. The driver tested positive for drugs. In addition, officers found that the subject lacked a driving licence.
The Ibiza Local Police have arrested the driver, a 24-year-old French national, for driving recklessly and driving under the influence of narcotics. The investigator has been brought before the court on duty.
